This comprehensive house renovation project involved a complete strip-out and refurbishment, with nearly all internal loadbearing walls repositioned and removed to create an updated layout. The most challenging aspect was the removal of the entire main rear elevation wall, constructed from 400mm thick solid masonry at the lower ground floor level. This ambitious alteration facilitated the creation of an open plan living space, seamlessly connecting the original house to a newly built rear and side extension. To ensure structural integrity, a triple long-span steel box frame was meticulously designed to support the weight of the main rear elevation wall.
