This project entailed a complete renovation of a historic house, involving the removal and reconfiguration of nearly all internal loadbearing lath and plaster walls to create a modern layout. Key challenges included restoring select lath and plaster walls to maintain budget constraints and engineering a double box frame to support the entire weight of the main rear elevation wall after removing a significant portion of the solid masonry. The comprehensive refurbishment included the installation of a new lift shaft, the integration of internal steel beams within limited floor-to ceiling heights to accommodate essential services, and the design of a roof terrace serving as both a practical amenity space and housing for lift equipment and air conditioning chillers.
