The structural works in this property involved removal of a number of internal walls and replacing them with shallow steel beams. There was a history of subsidence in this building, therefore the scope of the geotechnical engineering works had to be extended to establish exact issues with the ground conditions and specify correct depths of underpinning to comply with NHBC charts. New foundations were also designed to the required depth. Each step, from the initial assessment to the final checks, plays a vital role in transforming the tired-looking house into a modern, functional space while addressing all the existing issues.
